Employee Success Stories
Here are some success stories written by our employees themselves:
Anne Kimberley, Operations Director
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1996 as a Consultant/ Project Manager
Before joining Solicitec (Became Visualfiles in July 2004 and LexisNexis Visualfiles in 2006) I had worked in legal practices both as a Secretary and a Legal Executive gaining invaluable experience of how law offices were run. I specialised in volume Debt Collection and Repossession and in 1987 I bought a system from Solicitec. I had the training from Neil Ewin (Current Chairman) and I was sold! I loved the system and enjoyed developing it.
Sarah Bell, Senior Quality Analyst
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1998 as a Support Analyst
I began working for LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1998 working as a Support Analyst within the Support Department. My role involved resolving support calls dealing with both LexisNexis Visualfiles software and other 3rd party products, such as Microsoft Office, Windows 95/98 and NT and Progress.
Richard Hims, Manila Product Developer
Joined the LexisNexis Visualfiles Graduate Scheme in 2004
The LexisNexis Visualfiles company ethos has to be the number one reason I applied for the Graduate Scheme: How many other employers list 'To have fun' as a company goal? A year later, I'm reminded of that ethos on a daily basis in the actions of the management, the attitude of my colleagues, and the genuinely convivial atmosphere in the office.
Tom Langton, Head of Support Services
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1995 as a Support and Installation Team Trainee
After working at the University of Leeds within the computer services team I joined Solicitec, as it was, back in March 1995. Originally I joined as a trainee within the Support and Installation team, being one of a team of only three.
Zoe Wiggan, Senior Application Developer
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1999 as a Trainee Business Analyst
After completing my degree in Business Information Technology, I applied for a graduate training position with LexisNexis Visualfiles. I was accepted and I joined the company as a Trainee Business Analyst in September 1999.
Paul Payne, Manila Analyst Programmer
Joined the LexisNexis Visualfiles Graduate Scheme in 2004
After earning myself a place on the LexisNexis Visualfiles graduate scheme in 2004 I spent nine months moving around the organisation in a variety of placements with the hope of becoming a consultant. At the end of this period I had attended multiple training courses and worked on five or six systems. This gave me a strong understanding of the company’s methods and practices, as well as a sound technical understanding of the Visualfiles product. One thing that really struck me at the end of the nine months, was how much I had learnt in such a short time – and the learning certainly didn’t stop there!
Helen Walberg, Application Development Manager
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1995 as a Project Manager
Life at LexisNexis Visualfiles (or Solicitec as it was) started in 1995, when I joined the company as a Project Manager. At the time, SolCase V5 was being sold and implemented. My role required a combination of training, developing, planning, diplomacy, negotiation, patience etc etc to successfully move from a sale of our software to it’s implementation.
Mike Hewison, Quality Assurance Manager
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1987 as a Analyst/ Programmer
After training as a COBOL programmer I started working for Solicitec (Now known as LexisNexis Visualfiles) as an Analyst/Programmer in 1987. I quickly became involved with installation, implementation and on-site consultancy. As the company continued to grow I became established as a Project Manager with full responsibility for delivering and implementing systems. During this time I was also closely involved with designing and delivering training courses for both end users and systems developers. The developing role of project manager grew to include managing a team of 5 consultants. This gave responsibility for their personal development as well as ensuring that systems were delivered on time and within budget.
Matt Dobing, Manila Application Developer
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 2002 as first-line Support Analyst
I began working for LexisNexis Visualfiles in 2002 as a first-line Support Analyst in the Support Department. My role involved answering the phone and logging support calls from clients. I soon began taking on some of the calls myself and I quickly gained experience of our case management system SolCase and the SOS practice management system. I became a full Support Analyst in the integration team within support, and working in this role meant that I got to know many of our clients and also gained experience with our new product at the time; Visualfiles.
